People ask me how long have I been "doing this" for, and I assume they mean tattooing...yet they're asking about being an artist in general! I tell them for as long as I can remember... my parents, teachers, friends, etc. noticed my ability while to me it was and is just who I am. Any artist will tell you that they are always learning, creating and growing. My problem was what to do with this skill. I've probably transferred to more schools than anyone I know while simultaneously working in the fashion industry, airbrushing cars, trucks, motorcycles and even teaching...though once I started to tattoo, I never stopped fitting THAT into my schedule. (I've even tattooed my students' parents!) At 31, I'v come to the conclusion that tattooing and teaching art (although they seem polar opposites!:) are my passions. Both have a direct effect on other people and the reaction I get from them gives me the most reward.
